…..Jim Lofrano, passed away early Monday morning. His musical contributions have remained unparalleled, and he was working on the latest Falcons recording as recently as late February. The greatest drummer that I ever played with; an assessment that most of my musical colleagues would agree with. But he will mostly be remembered for the inspiring life he led, filled with humor and camaraderie, despite having to deal with the physical setbacks of MD for most of his life. There will never be another like Jim; rest assured, he’s cracking some souls up in heaven right now, delivering one liners from the one place where he had no peers, his seat behind a drum kit.

Marty Zucker & The Falcons
December 19th, 2009
See them on their world tour stop in L.A. at the Mint on Jan 9, 2010 @ 8 p. m. The legendary supergroup of the new decade are Marty Zucker — formerly the original singer of The Quick, The Falcons and sax player for the Three O’Clock and the Plimsouls. Rich Hunter – the classically trained guitarist you wish you were. Chris Silagyi — keyboards, guitarist and singer — A former member of pop band 20/20 who issued real records. Kit Dennis — bassist. A veteran musician and actor extraordinaire. Tommy Vilela — the natural drummer without issues. Their latest CD “So Good To See Me” produced by Rich Hunter featuring all their hits is now available . The CD includes contributions by John Clancy (keys) and Jim Lofrano (drums). Video of previous incarnations of the group are on the video page. The L.A. based band began their illustrious journey with ex-Quick members Marty Zucker (lead singer/sax), Steven Hufsteter (guitar/composer) and Danny Benair (drums) plus Billy Persons (bass) and Mike Mariano (keyboards/singer). During their initial years the music incorporated the pop/rock/R&B and soul genres. Chuck Berry chose the Falcons as his backup band to play a benefit concert at the Hollywood Palladium for payment of back taxes. Hufsteter later joined the Cruzados which became Tito and Tarantula. Benair and Mariano were members of the Three O’Clock and Persons played for the Gun Club and Joykiller. Due to their ongoing popularity, the band moved forward with Zucker [the artist formerly known as "Martino"] writing the songs, ditching the sax and recruiting musicians over the ensuing years. They became known as Marty Zucker & the Falcons. Songs labeled © are Copyright © 2009 Zucker Music. All Rights Reserved. **produced by Steve Deutsch. Auditions continue……..
September 16th, 2009for the remaining vacant spot in Marty Zucker & the Falcons. Finding a drummer has been a little harder than the other positions, but we’ve heard some great percussionists and want to thank them all for participating. In the mean time we continue working on our recorded product for the upcoming cd. The current members of the live performance group are, Marty Zucker (vocals/composer), Rich Hunter (guitar/vocals),
Chris Silagyi (keyboards/guitar/vocals), and Kit Dennis (bass). Jim Lofrano continues to fill in on drums for the recorded product. To get an idea of
the type of music we’re doing, go to www.myspace.com/falcons.
It Always Takes About A Week…..
August 24th, 2009….into a two week vacation for me to start ‘feeling’ like i’m on vacation. but once I hit Cazadero, that usually does the trick. Auditions and recordings for ‘Marty Zucker & The Falcons’ continue
as we plan for a fall cd release and live shows, but I might even try to forget about THAT for a few days while enjoying the solitude in the redwoods.
No matter how far the distance travelled…….
July 22nd, 2009…..it’s always worth it to get together with dear friends, as was the case with my recent trip to Highland, Texas, for a quick visit with my good buddy John Clancy and his lovely wife Kathleen. We did see the Yes/ Asia concert, up close and personal, and worked on a little music, but most of our time together was spent just visiting, which was pleasant, and good for the soul. Now that we’re a couple thousand miles apart again, we can get back to working on the “Marty Zucker and The Falcons” project, The band is starting to take shape. Demo songs can be heard at
www.myspace.com/falcons. More to come.
There’s been a very nice…….
June 9th, 2009……collaborative effort going on between Marty Zucker, John Clancy, Jim Lofrano, and myself during a long distance recording project of one of Marty’s old Falcons tunes, that was actually written by Steve Hufsteter. It’s amazing how technology allows us to be thousands of miles away from each other and work on the same recording project. Of course, it’s my feeling, that the reason these long distance projects end up sounding so cohesive, is because we actually have played together, in a more immediate setting in the past. I will post the links to the completed projects when they become available.

30 Years Had Past….
May 27th, 2009….since the last time me and Marty Zucker made music together in the band Jester around the Los Angeles area, dealing with such diverse musical genres as pop, hard rock, punk, new wave comedy, etc. that were hitting the airwaves in the late 1970’s. I think the problem with Jester was that we tried to do it all. Our collaboration was rekindled recently when I was asked to participate on some recordings by The Falcons, one of Marty’s groups from the early eighties that has recently started work on new material in the studio. Thirty years. Hmmmm. How come it seems like it was just yesterday that we were sharing an apartment on Collins St. in Tarzana, trying to deal with the things that 20 somethings deal with, AND all the drama that goes along with being in a band. I wouldn’t have missed it for anything. Now that we are more, ahem,
mature, I’m looking forward to working again with Marty, without all the ‘drama’.
